Waste Site and Recycling Centre

Media Release – April 7, 2020

Tweed COVID-19

Waste Site and Recycling Centre

The Municipality of Tweed Waste Site and Recycling Centre is considered an essential service in our Municipality and will continue to operate with regular hours as follows:

                                                Tuesday – 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

                                                Wednesday – 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

                                                Saturday – 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

For the health and safety of our staff and residents to allow for proper social distancing the following changes have been made and/or are occurring:

  • Maximum of 5 vehicles in the site at a time.
  • Two recycling stations have been set up.  Residents must deposit their own recycling in the appropriate bins.

During this time, we ask residents to go to the waste site to deposit waste and recycling only if necessary.  We understand with the measures in place that there are long line ups at the site and we request your patience.  The waste site must close at exactly 5:00 p.m.  The reasoning for this is that we must adhere to the Ministry of Environment’s Certificate of Approval when operating a landfill. This governs when we are allowed to operate our site. Bag tags are still required at a cost of $2 per bag as well as all other fees.

If you require additional information or have any concerns, please contact the office at 613-478-2535. Updated municipal information is on our website.
