What happens in Tweed, stays in Tweed...this weekend anyway!
The 3rd annual Tweed Tribute to Elvis Festival is set to kick off Friday night at the fairgrounds with the first round of the Elvis Tribute Artist Competition.
Before things begin to heat up, the winners of the 2013 Downtown 'Bright Light' Window Decorating Contest were announced this week and the winners are:
- Sweet Temptations Bakery
- The Great Stoco & Moira Food Company
- Tweed Florist
The spirit award went to Tweed BMO for their spectacular Vegas chapel.
Each year businesses in the Village of Tweed duke it out for the title of 'Ultimate Store Front' leading up to the Elvis weekend. The decorated windows stood out a little more this year with the Vegas lights beaming on the 'Tweed Strip'.
As the Festival rolls into Saturday morning there will be several events to take in around the Village of Tweed:
At 10 AM there will be a classic car parade down Victoria Street, followed by ETA performances outside the Tweed Jailhouse at Noon.
At 2 PM the Rising Star Youth Competitions are taking place at the Kiwanis Pavilion in Tweed Memorial Park. There will also be a surprise on Spring Street at 3 PM.
These are just some of the events taking place away from the fairgrounds throughout the day. At the fairgrounds itself; Round 2 of the competition is set to begin at 11 AM, with the Semi-finals set for 5 PM. On Saturday night there is a Vegas Showcase with Jay Zanier, Tweed's 2012 Ultimate Elvis. With last year's 'ALOHA' show being so amazing, it's no gamble that you are in for quite a spectacle on Saturday evening.
Continuing into Sunday there is a feature Gospel Show at 11 AM, followed by the Final Round of ETAs competing at 1 PM.
