Storm Damages

The Municipality of Tweed has been significantly affected by the storm that passed through our area on Sunday night. As a result, the Municipality has declared a State Of Emergency with the Province and their Emergency Control Group will be meeting throughout the day.
We will be opening a reception centre at the Tweed Public Library at 230 Metcalf Street in Tweed for affected residents, which will be open until 8 pm this evening. We are asking affected residents to register at the reception centre so municipal staff have a better picture of the affected area.
Public Works and Hydro One crews are working to clear the many side roads along the Hwy 7 corridor within the Municipality of Tweed and request that you avoid the area. They are also requesting that you drive with caution due to downed hydro lines and trees. There are extensive hydro outages in areas that have not sustained damage and Hydro One is working to restore power.
You can see estimated times for restoration on their Hydro One app or on their Storm Centre online at hydroone.com.
If you have questions or require additional information, please contact the office at 613-478-2535.
