This is a day that celebrates and recognizes First Nations, Metis, and Inuit cultures. It is observed on the 21st of June to recognize the summer solstice, the day of maximum daylight, and its importance to indigenous peoples. Today marks the 26th anniversary of June 21st officially being named Indigenous Peoples Day. We're also in the midst of National Indigenous History Month, so today especially, take some time to commemorate the heritage, diverse cultures and outstanding achievements of First Nations, Inuit and Métis.
