Welcome to the Municipality of Tweed!
As the COVID-19 situation continues, some municipalities are reporting issues with residents flushing items such as wet wipes, paper towel and facial tissue.
When these items are flushed, they can cause pipe blockages and sewage overflows in homes and businesses. They can also cause costly, serious issues in our wastewater system, including damage
to important equipment. Service disruptions could occur as a result.
Now more than ever, we need to focus our financial and staffing resources on supporting our community – rather than on dealing with preventable emergency repairs.
The only things that go down the toilet are the 3Ps:
Pee, Poo & Toilet Paper. No exceptions.
Even items labelled “flushable” should not be flushed. That’s because they do not break down like toilet paper does. If you have any questions about where to dispose of something, please contact the Manager of Public Works Allan Broek at 613-478-2535
With your help, we can keep our wastewater system running smoothly and our community’s resources focused where they are needed most.
Thank you and please share this message with your family and friends.
