MEDIA RELEASE                                                             March 19, 2021

$84,400 OTF Grant Gives Community Centre a Lift

Tweed, ON – In late 2019, the Municipality of Tweed received a $84,400 Capital grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation to make improvements to the Andy Brown Memorial Centre. The resulting upgrades made over the past year will help extend the life of the facility and continue to provide people with a space for recreation and other local events in the future.

This is exactly the kind of community building function the Ontario Trillium Fund handles so well and I'm very happy to see Tweed make use of this resource for making repairs to the Andy Brown Memorial Centre," said Hastings-Lennox and Addington MPP Daryl Kramp. "We all look forward to the time when we can make full use of our public facilities again."

The work to the facility included replacing the canvas dome, adding sport court flooring, and installing accessible entranceways. The project was finished last fall.

“On behalf of the Council of the Municipality of Tweed I am pleased to see the completion of the Andy Brown Memorial Centre project. It has been a long two years, but I am happy to have the project complete and look forward to having this public recreation space back in use for years to come. Thank you, Ontario Trillium Foundation, for making the recreation committee’s dream come true,” said Jo-Anne Albert, Mayor of Municipality of Tweed.

The Andy Brown Memorial Centre is committed to preserving this space and ensuring that it remains accessible for many community activities over the course of the year. If you wish to enquire about using the space, please visit the website at: tweed.ca

The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) is an agency of the Government of Ontario, and one of Canada’s leading granting foundations. OTF awarded $115 million to 644 projects last year to build healthy and vibrant communities in Ontario.
