March 20 - COVID-19 Update

Ontario COVID-19 Assessment Tool –

https://www.ontario.ca/page/2019-novel-coronavirus-covid-19-self-assessment

We want to thank our business community for their diligent efforts in helping prevent the spread of COVID-19.  We are seeing protocols and recommendations being followed throughout the community, and we are very proud and thankful for everyone’s efforts during this time.

To address the burn ban in place, two factors have played a role in protecting public safety

  1. We have been experiencing both dry conditions and heavy wind gusts, which is common for this time of year.
  2. With the implications of COVID-19, safety of our volunteer firefighters, and the potential for a reduced availability of firefighters because of COVID-19, the ability to fight a fire could be significantly reduced at this time.

The Council Meeting scheduled for Tuesday March 24, 2020 at 5PM will deal with time sensitive business only to keep our community operational.   At this meeting Council will be amending our Procedural By-law to allow for virtual council meetings during emergencies only. This law was implemented late yesterday by the Province for Municipalities.

At the meeting, Council and staff will be maintaining a 2 meter distance from each other, which is in line with public health recommendations.  Upon entering the meeting all council, staff, and public will be screened using public health guidelines.  The meeting room will be the only access point in the building, and it will be cleaned and sanitized immediately following the meeting.

We also want to make our residents aware that Dellars IDA issued the following statement on March 19, 2020:

Dellar's IDA Drug Store is working diligently, along with our local physicians, to ensure that health care continues to be provided for our community during this uncertain time. To continue to do so, the pharmacy will be changing its access to care to protect both patients and staff. Effective Friday, March 20th, the pharmacy will not be allowing anyone from the public into the pharmacy. The pharmacy will remain open to fill prescriptions and provide over the counter medications and products, however, the pickup of medications and other pharmacy products will change for the foreseeable future.

Our front door will be a pickup point to allow everyone to get what they need while keeping the appropriate, public health recommended, 2 meter distance for all social interactions. Our phone lines will remain open to refill prescriptions, call in OTC orders, arrange pickup times and payment, and to provide medical advice.

We are also implementing a free-of-charge, contactless delivery service for those unable to pick up their medications at the pharmacy. Call the pharmacy to place your order - we will gather your information, including a credit card number for payment, and we will deliver your order to your doorstep. Please call the pharmacy for further details.

Our team is working around the clock to ensure everyone is taken care of in our community to the best of our abilities. We hope you continue to show patience and help one another during this time of need. Please remember to remain home if you are unwell. Help us and our community stay healthy!

Once again, we want to thank our residents and businesses for their efforts in these unprecedented times. Please continue to maintain social distancing, and be sure to follow all Public Health guidelines.
