Visitors

If you are discovering us for the first time we hope you enjoy our friendly hospitality. If this is a return visit, welcome back and enjoy your stay. While you are here we invite you to take part in the many opportunities you will find in Tweed, from unique stores to scenic rural settings, sporting and recreation sites to artists showcases … we have much to offer any time of year!

Our Municipality is family-focused with a number of exciting annual events and special occasions offered by our dedicated service clubs, volunteer organizations and local artisans. Come out and enjoy Sunday Music in the Park; family fun on Canada Day is a yearly event; the Tweed Agricultural Fair is a longstanding tradition; Tweed Stampede and Jamboree at Trudeau Resort gets better every year; Tweed & Area Studio Tour showcases the talents of artists and crafts people each fall; the Santa Clause Parade held in conjunction with our famous Festival of Trees is a great way to start the winter season. And new this year – the excitement of Elvis – with tribute shows, competitions and lots of fun at our first annual Tweed Tribute to Elvis Festival.

Our municipality houses some very unique buildings as venues for visits, shows and tours. The Marble Church Arts Centre is home to the Tweed & Area Arts Council and provides a beautiful location for arts workshops, shows and artists displays. The Tweed and Area Heritage Centre captures the history of the area and also showcases local artists and promotes local businesses. The Kiwanis Pavilion on Stoco Lake is a popular locale for dances, weddings and family gatherings. No visit to Tweed from May to October would be complete without a stop at one of North America’s smallest jailhouses, which provides an abundance of information on events and offers a great photo opportunity.

For outdoor enthusiasts Stoco Lake, in the heart of the Municipality, provides an abundance of fishing and boating opportunities. The Skootamatta, Black and Moira Rivers run through the municipality and offer their own outdoor adventures. The Trans-Canada Trail passes through the village enticing visitors to hike, cycle, horseback ride, ATV or snowmobile. The newly-designed recreation complex in the village has a variety of facilities including an outdoor swimming pool, walking trail, basketball and volleyball courts, bike park, horse stables, soccer pitch and baseball diamond. It also includes the Land O Lakes Curling Club and Hockey Arena that host tournaments, bonspiels, and provincial championships.

Tweed has a distinctive way of making an impression. We’re proud of how we’ve maintained that much sought after small town feel. You will soon discover a myriad of opportunities as Tweed makes a lasting impression on you. We extend a warm welcome and hope your stay with us will inspire a return visit.
