Micro-Brewery Local media on microbrewing: Artisian Cheese Coffee Shop - BY THE WAY CAFE A Thriving cafe (By the way Cafe) is now for sale on Tweed's main Street (Victoria). Inclusive of the lease, the asking price is $28,000.
There is great potential for a microbrewery to enter the market for beer throughout Hastings County. The brewery could market its product to smaller, local pubs and restaurants, a market with an estimated size of $5.15 million. We have found that residents of Hastings County and tourists passing through the area may constitute the brewery's main target market. This segment is large, growing, and contains a wealthy demograpnhic group known as "zoomers". Just as important is the fact that we have local farmers growing the products that are required to make beer. We believe that a craft beer investor should strongly consider the Municipality of Tweed for its honest, hard working, blue collar manpower and because its an affortable place to start up a business.

Operating at different times over the past 100 years, more than 80 cheese factories have called Hastings County home. We even became tradmarked as the "Cheese Capital of Canada" which is still in place today. But over time, manufacturing techniques changed, reducing the perceived need for artisanal cheese products.
Interest in small-scale cheese-making is beginning to make a comeback in Hastings County. There is a re-affirmed commitment to local food, a newfound respect for local environments, and consumer-led desire for the creation and consumption of nutritious foods.
Hastings County has almost everything needed to take the next step in the artisanal cheese-making process: milk suppliers, experienced and aspiring cheese makers, willing mentors and advisors, eager retailers and customers. Now it’s time to put the pieces together, add some capital investment, and let the cheese making begin!
