2008 DOG TAGS
Dog tags for 2008 are now available at the municipal office at a cost of $10.00 each. After April 1, 2008 this cost increases to $15.00 each. For kennel licences please contact our Animal Control Officer, Fearnley Davies at (613) 478-3547.

ANIMAL CONTROL – DOGS Municipality of Tweed By-Law No. 99-4 sets out the provisions for the licencing and regulating of dogs. The by-law outlines the regulations and fees for licencing dogs, the regulations for keeping of dogs, and the penalties for non-compliance with the by-law provisions.

LICENCING OF DOGS

• The owner of a dog shall annually, but not later than April 1st in each year or within 7 days of becoming an owner at a later date, register and licence the dog.

• All licences and tags issued pursuant to this By-Law shall be serially numbered and a record kept by the Municipality of Tweed. Registration shall set out the name and address of the owner, the name and description of the dog.

• At the time of registration, the owner/applicant shall be required to pay the following required licence fees: $10.00 for any dog, if only one dog is owned; $10.00 for the second dog; $10.00 for the third dog. A late penalty fee of $5.00 shall come into effect on the second day of April each and every year or a period of greater than 7 days of becoming the owner of a dog. The $5.00 late payment is in addition to the licence fee.

• On payment of the licence fee for a dog the owner shall be furnished with a dog tag which shall bear the serial number and the year in which it was issued. The owner of a dog shall keep the dog tag securely fixed on the dog at all times.

• The owner of a kennel of purebred dogs or non-purebred dogs shall pay an annual fee of $40.00. Kennel licences are subject to the same late payment dates and fees as individual licences. The Animal Control Officer shall issue all kennel licences.
